Kendra Alvey (she/her) is the author of the award-winning young adult Sam the Spectator series: THE HAUNTER (a 2018 B.R.A.G. Medallion Honoree/2019 IAN Book of the Year Finalist), GHOSTAPALOOZA (a 2019 B.R.A.G. Medallion Honoree), and THE GHOSTS OF SUMMERS PAST (a 2020 Kindle Book Award Finalist).


Her work has appeared in Cosmopolitan, The Huffington Post, xoJane, Marie Claire, Hello Giggles, Refinery29, Thought Catalog, Naturally Curly, BeatCrave, Life With Dogs, Deva Curl, ScreenCrave, and others.


Her essay “Being Elmo” was published in the anthology HerStory: What I Learned in My Bathtub (Adams Media, 2005) and her essay about working at Hooters “Everything’s Bigger In Texas” was published in the anthology Not Your Mother’s Book…On Being A Woman (Publishing Syndicate, 2012). Her feminist essay, “Does #YesAllWomen Even Apply To Me” was featured in the eBook #YesAllWomen: A Collection (Thought Catalog, 2014). She wrote the foreword for the British comic book Dust Piggies Chapter Three, and her online persona, Kendragarden, was featured in the communications textbook The Communication Age: Connecting and Engaging by Chad Edwards, PhD (Sage,2012).

Kendra tweeted as @Kendragarden on Twitter. Her tweets appeared everywhere from Reader’s Digest to The Guardian to Buzzfeed. She was listed as one of the “50 funniest Twitter Accounts of 2015” by Playboy Magazine. The Berry did a feature on her called “19 Times @Kendragarden was the Funniest Person on Twitter.” She was featured in “The 48 funniest women on Twitter according to some of the funniest women on Twitter” on The Loom. Pleated Jeans ran a piece called “10+ Times @Kendragarden Absolutely Crushed It On Twitter.” She was chosen for Huffington Post’s list “Best Tweets of 2012: The 101 Most Amazing Things Women Said OnTwitter This Year,” their “50 Funniest Tweets From Women in 2016” list, the “50 Funniest Tweets From Women in 2019” list, and was featured over fifty times in their HuffPo Best Tweets From Women series.
